March Kit at Birds Of A Feather Kit, Co {Little Yellow Bicycle: Just Because; Teresa Collins: Stationary Noted}

When Amy revealed the March kit to the designers at BOAF, I immediately knew which photos I wanted to use with the "Just Because" line from Little Yellow Bicycle. Temper tantrum pictures from my three year old!.

The blue floral paper looks so good with her dress.

I stole the title from one of the Teresa Collins Stationary Noted papers.

I layered the washi tape and used my date stamp. 

I went a little crazy with the paint splatters but it fit the feel of the photos :) 

I love the bicycle and clouds on this sheet. 

I was originally planning on using kid pictures here but thought these two photos were perfect!

These layouts came together so quickly, I had time to make one more! I pinned a layout that I'd seen on LYB's site and really wanted to lift it. You can see the original here.

I have to be honest, I was shocked to see that one of my kids must have gotten their hands on the chipboard embellishment with a marker.... but it kind of added to the layout that although it's not a perfect life (or layout), I love it!  

I never shared my first two projects with the March kit at Birds of A Feather, oops! This is my current favorite layout :) And also lifted from Maggie Holmes. You can see the original here.

Alllllmost done! {Little Yellow Bicycle: Baby Safari}

I finally had the urge to finish the first year album for my youngest. I haven't done a layout in oh, say over a year? I did really good with her album, stayed up to date till the end when she started moving ;) This is what I came up with for month 11:

As I was working on it, I realized it was almost the same colors in this week's color challenge at The Paper Variety:

I didn't think it had enough yellow though, and too much pink. So for month 12, I really tried to concentrate on using mainly green, orange and yellow.  I couldn't avoid the pink though! 

All I have left for this album is the back page -a picture of her 1 year photo shoot. As soon as I get that done, I'll recap the whole album...I can't wait! Thanks for looking :-)

Today I wanted to share a layout I did for the March sketch challenge at Birds of A Feather. Every month there are 5 challenges that Amy posts and you have the whole month to complete them. If you complete all 5, you have a shot at being her next guest designer ;)

When I saw the sketch I knew immediately what paper I wanted to use because of the film strip! I've had the whole collection for a looong time now and it feels so good to use some of it :)

Welcome to the Jungle {Little Yellow Bicycle: Baby Safari}

I made this layout for a sketch challenge on the LYB blog using pictures from my little one's first day....first moments, actually! If you click the link, you can see the sketch - I didn't stray too much from it as usual :)

We were supposed to use the new Twig line but they still let us participate if we don't have any as long as we use another LYB line. This is a retired line, Baby Safari, and I bought a ton of it when I was pregnant with her. {I have a thing for giraffes ;) }Hard to believe these pictures are almost 2 years old!

Autumn Inspiration {Basic Grey: Green at Heart}

This is the 2nd layout that I completed for the online crop last weekend at Birds of a Feather. The challenge was to use one of several quotes and use a tree, leaves or pumpkin on your layout. I don't normally scrap with purple but these pictures called for it, and the Green at Heart paper went great with the pictures. The striped paper and the circles used on the tree are the only two sheets that I bought from that collection. I was digging through my cardstock stash at 1 am to find a shade of purple that worked! lol The tree, grass, butterfly & bird are from a set of Little Yellow Bicycle rubons...I have way too many rubons! I doodled around the circles on the tree, under my journaling and around the outside of the LO...it just needed something extra when I looked at it the next morning ;)

The quote I chose is "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile. ~William Cullen Bryant" and is on the brown journaling strips. I didn't use a title for this layout - it feels weird to me to not have one!

I used an Inspired Blueprints sketch. I have no idea what number, sorry :( But it does have a tree on it, just like my layout!

Bunches of flowers {Little Yellow Bicycle: Baby Safari}

Only 3 more months to go on her first year album! I stayed current until 6 months and then Christmas happened. I'll be glad when I'm done with it - like any project, it's exciting in the beginning but by the end I get sick of it. I've tried to use only Little Yellow Bicycle papers & embellishments throughout the album to have a coherent feel but I couldn't resist the Jenni Bowlin butterflies - they are sooo cute!

I'm sharing this LO because I took a flower technique class at my LSS this week and promised to share what I learned :) One of the flowers was stacked circles - using all the same size. I prefer stacking the scalloped circles or using circles of varying sizes. I can't remember the name of this one....box something...because it's assembled much like folding the flaps of a box shut. This flower would look really good with the right patterned paper. Kinda boring with cardstock.

And still not quite right with this patterned paper. But the LYB stuff is limited on it's double sided paper.

Sweet Princess {Little Yellow Bicycle: Baby Safari}

I had printed this picture for the 6 month page but chose to go with the others instead. I would have found a way to fit it in if I hadn't had this paper to go with it :) It's also Little Yellow Bicycle paper...I'm really excited about this LO!I used sketch #31 at 52 Sketches...52 Weeks for my inspiration and it came together very quickly. The only problem with this layout was that it was 10 PM, both girls were sleeping and I wanted to finish the one last step of putting glitter on that arrow. I needed to use the SU! heat & stick powder...the heat gun is not too loud but I guess it was loud enough to wake both of the princesses ;)Thanks for looking!

Six Months {Little Yellow Bicycle: Baby Safari}

It's been a slow scrapbooking week because my oldest and I have both had a head cold. Luckily, she's doing fine now and I'm on the way to recovery...

Before my youngest was even born, I bought all of the supplies for her first year album. I wanted a small album so that I wouldn't overwhelm myself trying to scrap ALL of the pictures. So this is an 8 1/2 inch square album and the key is that I've stayed up to date on it! I really like that I'm using the Baby Safari line from Little Yellow Bicycle - it makes the album feel cohesive. Unfortunately, I need more of the patterned papers! I have a ton of accessories from the line and started to wonder if I would ever use them all :) I was thrilled with these rubons - they are very colorful and are meant to be layered.

What great weather we are having - 2 weekends in a row! Hope you all are enjoying YOUR weekend ;)

Goin' Batty for Our Lil' Pumpkin {Bo Bunny Boo Crew, Little Yellow Bicycle Trick or Treat}

This smirk on my girl's face is NOT normal....she was VERY hesitant to wear the pumpkin halter that Tasha made for the portrait party. I didn't think we'd get her to wear it because it was different...and she doesn't like change (who does she get THAT from?lol)....but we got 1 or 2 pictures out of her. You can tell she thinks it feels weird by how she's holding her left hand touching the material. I loved the Boo Bunny green paper with the picture but couldn't figure out how to pull it together. I got closer when I found this Little Yellow Bicycle Lace Cardstock.

The bat paper behind it is from Stampin' Up - an old collection I think... Then what really made it all pull together was the new sketch #39 at 52 sketches...52 weeks. I used 4 squares of patterned paper instead of 6 because of the large picture and the diecut area of the black cardstock. The sketch was a lot of fun and I plan to use it again.

I have one more page almost done so check back tomorrow for that... then I get to pickup my next bookclub kits ;)

Lots of Layouts

I have been very busy these past few weeks. Of our two kits for the book club this month, one was the supplies to complete 2 two page layouts. This one ended up not being exactly like the book because I couldn't get the paper to sand correctly. If you distress the paper, brown should have shown through. I couldn't get it to work right and it just looked horrible. I'm pretty excited with how it turned out.

Yes, that's my helper in the background. I was taking pictures with the front door open and she couldn't resist the beautiful weather we are having today!

This months kit was about using stickers. So the lace paper is actually stickers, as are most of the embellishments on these layouts. I made this layout by copying two single page layouts. I really like that I wrote a letter to my first daughter. I normally don't do that much journaling but I'm glad that I did for this layout and plan to write more letters to both girls.

{My pictures of the pages aren't great but I was working on limited time between both girls' naps and keeping the cat indoors!}

This is my favorite layout this month. Mainly because I love the pictures! The papers are wonderful, too, but you can't see much of the detail in these pictures. The ribbon is part of what I won from a blog contest :)

I'm also proud of myself for finishing 3 pages in the baby's album. The first page is her birth announcement (going out today so I didn't want to spoil it for those getting it) and then I completed her first month's layout.

The second kit for the book club is a project for a school age child. I thought about not making it until I had a school aged kid but I'm glad I went ahead and put this together...

Because I really like the "pop-ups". This is something I can incorporate into other projects that I make. A little scoring and cutting a circle is all that you have to do to. Can't wait to use it on something else.

Little Yellow Bicycle - Baby Safari

This has been the most productive month for me (at least scrapbooking!). This is the 2nd kit from my book club. It's another one that I copied exactly. The title of the book is accordion folds. That's a matchbook that has been made into an accordion book instead....

This is one side of the accordion pages...

And this is the other side. I'm not sure if we were supposed to cover both but I couldn't leave the back bare!

And this is just supposed to be one matted photo but I had too many full size photos that I wanted to include. So I made it a foldout book as well....

This is how it looks with both books unfolded....

I don't take too many pictures that I can crop and it will fit in the matchbook, so I'm not sure I would use that much in the future. (Though, if I had a printer that worked, I could just print them smaller...) I really do like making foldouts for the full size pictures though.

This really cute paper is by Little Yellow Bicycle and is the boy line of Baby Safari. They have a girl line as well and I think I've already bought every piece of girl Baby Safari paper (as well as most of the embellishments!) during the Houston Area Roundup. I *heart* this line, more so now that I've gotten to play with it! And even though it's a boy line, it still worked for my little princess :)

I think I need a 12 step program

The Houston Area is having a Scrapbook Store Shop Hop this weekend through next weekend. 7 stores are participating, 4 of which are relatively close to where I live. Of the other 3, I visit one monthly for my "book club".

The remaining two are 45 mins or more away from me. Bestie H and I visited those 2 stores today - I was gone from my house for 8 hours!!! We hit construction on the way home (my fault) then exited when we should have stayed on the freeway (Bestie's fault) so that added a lot of time. It was fun though and I would do it all again! In fact, we'll be visiting 2 more stores together next weekend....

I really hope anyone wanting to come to the stores down this way realizes that the major freeway will be closed down next weekend! I hope they visited today...

So if you'd asked me 6 months ago what my scrapbook obsession was, I would have said embellishments...probably ribbon being the worst. But I have to say, now, I think my biggest problem is with paper.

And this is the stack of all of the paper I bought. I seriously need to buy a new organizer just for what I bought today!

I went overboard, but it was at the store farthest away from me - which happens to probably be the largest as well. I've only visited there 3 times in the last 5 years or so and don't plan on returning anytime soon...

The really sad part is that I have 4 more stores to visit. Hopefully I'll be more restrained at those :)
