Project 12 - October

We are on the downhill slide for another year documented with Project 12! I finished Sept just a few days ago *blushing* but was feeling more motivated for October. I love Halloween so that helps, but also, because 10 months done out of 12 feels awesome! 

 It was fun to include a 5x7 picture this month. I think I'm going to go back and doodle some around the title circle to fill in the black areas.

 I was worried about using the 3x6 pictures but it turned out to be a really good size!

 This is my favorite picture of the month :) My niece so excited to be carving pumpkins and getting all of the "gunk" out.

Smurf*tastic {My Mind's Eye: Alphabet Soup, Fine and Dandy}

This layout is inspired by two things I saw online....the current sketch at Inspired Blueprints and a sneak of a layout using the sew easy tool. 

 I had the pennant head for my sew easy tool but hadn't used it yet. The sketch was perfect for it! I had lots of fun with this layout and love how it turned out :) I even remembered to use a movie ticket stub! The pictures are of my daughter and her friend from one of those photo booths...I had forgotten my camera so indulged their request to take the pictures there and I'm so glad I did!

Family Moment {My Mind's Eye: Alphabet Soup}

I created this layout for this week's challenge at The Paper Variety - to add threads to your layout. Not a hard one for me since most of my layouts have some sort of stitching now! I stitched a border around the patterned paper and also some zig zag stitching on the embellie cluster in the upper left.

The green flower is another one of those silk flowers that Kayla sent me - it was perfect! The layout itself is a little plain to me, but I didn't want to add anything else since there are so many photos. The Paper Variety is having a birthday celebration soon - can't wait!

First House {Pink Paislee: Twilight, My Mind's Eye: The Spider's Web}

I created this challenge for the August sketch challenge at Birds of A Feather. Here is the sketch:

And I saw that Janet made hers into a 8.5x11 layout so I decided to copy her ;)

Of course now I see her little strip on the right and wish I would have done that too! But this is what I came up with:

I'm already looking forward to fall weather and deciding on what the girls will be. Can't wait for the first house this year!

Confessions of a Shopaholic {My Mind's Eye: Abbey Road, Lucky Me}

This layout came together because of 3 challenges! The Paper Variety's challenge this week is to create a movie theme project or one based on the title of the movie. I had several ideas in mind...but went with "Confessions of a Shopaholic".

Last weekend during the crop at BOAF for National Scrapbook Day, Deb posted a layout for her challenge about her daughter being a fashionista. I loved it and remembered I had printed several photos of my oldest in some of her favorite outfits. She loves getting dressed up and then having her picture taken :) One of the challenges Amy has posted this month at BOAF is to scraplift a layout from the gallery, so I chose Deb's!

And then lastly, I also used sketch #156 from Nuts about Sketches to help me pull this all together. Silly me, I just realized it's not a sketch for their current contest! ;)

I had lots of fun using these My Mind's Eye paper from my stash...even though I have tons of new paper to use! I got some great deals last weekend for NSD but am not brave enough to cut into that pretty paper yet :)

Cute & Adorable {Basic Grey: Olivia}

I'm back today with more Basic Grey :) My largest stash based on manufacturer is definitely Basic Grey but I haven't used in any ages till just recently. I love the Olivia line and had forgotten how much until I was in search for paper for this picture. I've had this picture for over a year but wasn't sure what I wanted to have for the title & journaling...

Enter this month's journaling challenge at Birds of A Feather - to scrap a conversation. I ask my oldest daughter often if she likes being a big sister and the answer has pretty much stayed the same for the past two years. She really does love her little sister to pieces and I'm so excited to know that they have each other to grow up with! MY sister is one of my best friends :-)

This LO is also for the challenge at The Paper Variety to use polka dots!

I lifted this layout from one I saw in the My Mind's Eye April newsletter. The sketch is by Jana Eubank but the layout I lifted from is by Tamara Jensen. I tried to find a blog link for her but gave up (I admit, pretty quickly, lol).

March Project 12 Layout

I bought some new glossy accents and this one is actually glossy but it's not as dimensional as I'd like. I could do another coat...but I'm OK with this LO as it is :)

Meeting Baby Kate {My Mind's Eye: Tiny Dancer}

I completed this layout using Julie's sketch for The Magpie Club. Those green buttons aren't photographing well, they match the layout better in real life! I had lots of fun - mainly because I think these pictures are just adorable! I haven't looked back at these in a while and I was pleasantly surprised to find this :) Big sister is just beaming with pride! Big sister helped me with this layout, too. Picked the alpha ('cause they sparkle!) and helped me apply all those pearls....I'm afraid she's going to have to get her own stash sooner than I thought :\

Mischief {My Mind's Eye: Feeling Groovy}

So even though Julie has closed her 52 Sketches site, she is still posting some sketches on her blog. I used this sketch from her blog to create this LO: The picture was taken one morning after she'd been way too quiet for way too long. When I went to check on her, I found that she'd eaten quite a bit of my new People magazine! That was 2 months ago and I'm still trying to remember to keep things out of her reach :)

Thankful 4 U {My Mind's Eye: Free Bird "Love"}

I created this layout for a challenge at Scrap For A Cure to create a LO based on what you are thankful or grateful for. I did this based on some of the people that I'm thankful for (not all, so don't be offended if you didn't make this LO!). The 4 and fact that there are 4 people is not coincidental :) I'm already brainstorming another layout that lists some of the things that I'm thankful for...like red wine! lol Because you know I love sketches I also based the LO on one of Julie's sketches...#28. I rotated the sketch which I've never done before! I plan to go back and use the sketch again without rotating it because I like so many of the examples I've seen done that way.

I have been missing around here lately...just catching up after being gone for a trip and dealing with sick kids. I do have another layout done that I'll get up for tomorrow - using a Bo Bunny die cut page!

Little Pumkin {My Mind's Eye: The Spider's Web; Die Cuts With A View: The Doodlin' Around Stack}

Today's LO is based on sketch #40 at 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I was worried I wouldn't find pictures to fit the sketch and since my printer is still on the fritz (I doubt it ever will get fixed) I couldn't print any small enough. But I made do! The pumpkins and dot paper are scraps from some other pages I did. (here and here) Let me tell you how glad I am that I cut out that middle section of the dot paper! I'm not normally THAT stingy with my paper but I really liked it :) and it ended up being the perfect size for this layout! What wasn't working perfect for me was my border punch. Not sure what my problem was but I could not get it to come out straight... I still have a few of these pumpkins left - I just love popping them up and it worked perfectly to cover the camera date print on this picture!

The sun has come out and our temperatures are only in the 70s so I'm going to try to get outside for a little bit :) I do have a couple of kits from the bookclub but I'm just not ready to make anything Christmas!

Inspired Blueprints Sketch #32 {My Mind's Eye: Tiny Dancer Chasse, Free Bird Beauty}

This LO came together very quickly. Inspired Blueprints just blogged the sketch today and I've already got it done :)It's very basic - the only dimension is that I popped up the "Family" tag. (And that was my 2nd choice but I accidentally inked my fingerprint onto my first choice of tag...it's a good thing I have so much MME stuff in my stash!)

I *heart* my feet! {My Mind's Eye Tiny Dancer & Whirly Bird}

This layout is based on the Sept 15 sketch at Stuck? Sketches and I actually used recent pictures ;) I've had it done for a while except for the glitter on the heart. Last time I used this chunky glitter from Stampin' Up!, it was a disaster....so I wanted to use the heat & stick powder to apply it this time. After a little bit of waiting, I finally picked it up today and WOW! I'll never apply glitter again without using that stuff! I'd basically given up on using glitter (except for stickles, of course) but NOW I'm considering using it on holiday cards. I don't normally like the idea of that because the glitter gets everywhere when you open the envelope (not to mention when you make them) but I promise, this glitter is STUCK. DOWN!

My Best Chicks {My Mind's Eye: Abbey Road - Whirly Bird "Shine" and "Best Friends"}

I based this layout on a sketch at yet ANOTHER sketch site, 52 Sketches . . . 52 Weeks. This is based on sketch #11. The original idea came from a post I saw at The Pink Ninjas. I headed over to one of my LSSs yesterday and when I saw this paper, I knew I wanted it for this picture. I don't care for the shade of pink on the glitter letters...but it was the best I had.

Hidden journaling is great because 1) I wrote several sentences but it doesn't clutter the layout and 2) I don't have to feel so exposed with my thoughts out in the open for all to see! I think most people won't even realize there's journaling hidden there :)

I knew I needed a second page so I could pop that birdie up - and decided to pop up some of the flowers ,too.This makes two layouts this week that wasn't of my girls - it's been fun! Don't worry though...I've done several pages of them as well :)

My Mind's Eye {Breaking Free: Sister's Floral}

This picture is one of just a few that I have from our wedding/honeymoon. I scrapped our wedding using most of the pictures we ordered from the ship's wedding photographer and then the few we had taken by a friend were loaded on our old computer that crashed. (I know better now and backup to an external hard drive at least once a month!) Anyway, I do have a few photos taken by the ship photographers over the week that we were on the cruise. I think this one is sweet - the way that I'm looking at my husband. But in reality, he had probably just done or said something picking on me - to make us all laugh. The picture was taken at our dinner table just hours after we were married. And I think that the 4 friends that sailed with us were eating with us.
I try to buy 2 of every patterned paper I buy... and I'm glad I did here because I had to use the 2nd piece to cut out flowers for embellishments. LOTS of cutting!

I've wanted to try this for a while. I'm sure there's a really fancy technical name for it - where you pleat the paper. I've seen it done with stitching down the middle but since my sewing machine is on the fritz, I had to improvise. I do like the added texture it adds to the page but it was a booger to get it to stay down! The magic red tape saved me though :)

I really like those glittery lace circles. I'm not much of a heart fan, but it worked on this page. Actually, I'm not a very romantic or sappy person, so I felt silly making this page and coming up with journaling! Please don't laugh...especially if you know me! LOL

Oh, and can you believe I didn't reference a sketch?! I did actually start off with one in mind but I altered it so much that I actually feel like this is more of my own design...for once!

More My Mind's Eye: The Spider's Web

This is my 4th Halloween page this year and I'm ready for a change. It's not good to be sick of Halloween already and were not even in October yet!

I used the rest of MME The Spider's Web from my bookclub kit and all I'm left with now is scraps. I would like to pick up a few more sheets to add to my stash :) I made this page based on sketch #65 at Got Sketch?. I like the paper so much that I even cut out the middle section of the background paper :) lol I entered a contest at Got Sketch? to win a spot in their next online class. I started to get my hopes up when I saw this since one of the winners has my same first name and last initial! SO CLOSE! No luck this time though :)

Pine Cone Press NYOBC {My Mind's Eye: The Spider's Web}

These two layouts are from one of the two kits from this month's bookclub. I like the paper MUCH better after seeing it with my pictures. When I first got it, I wasn't sure I would have pictures that really coordinated with it. Luckily, the pictures from last year's portrait party looked GREAT with the paper!

I designed this page based on sketch #16 at Inspired Blueprints. I did use a couple of pieces of paper that is not MME but the rest is from The Spider's Web line.( And after seeing the picture on the computer, I went back to add more pearls!) Credit for this next title goes again to my sister!

What I think is interesting...is that what looked acceptable in real life (the font for "dolled up") is totally NOT acceptable when I see it on the computer screen (just like for the layout above needing more pearls). It does not fit with the idea of the whole page and I WILL be changing it. Probably with red gingham paper like my sister suggested ;) The reason I originally thought it would work is because of the "dripping" in the bracket and in the font for "halloween night" but, well, NO.

I only wish that I had thought to put makeup on her for these pictures...those red cheeks add so much to the costume! There's no "bling" on this page...but I'm guessing once I see what others did at our bookclub meeting, that I'll come away with an idea to dress it up a little (pun intended!).

Cute Cuspids

Thanks to my non-scrappy but creative sister for supplying the title for this layout! Much better than "First Trip to the Dentist" ;)

I had a hard time getting started on this LO until I got over wanting the paper to coordinate with the dress colors. Then I was on My Mind's Eye blog and came across this layout - it all came together quickly after that. I had been planning on following another Pagemap sketch that was similar so mine is really a combination of the two. I was excited to find the free tooth font as well :)
I spent way too long deciding where to put the flower! lol

P.S. Please pardon the construction here on the blog :) I hope to have it all finished in a day or two...

Lots of Layouts

I have been very busy these past few weeks. Of our two kits for the book club this month, one was the supplies to complete 2 two page layouts. This one ended up not being exactly like the book because I couldn't get the paper to sand correctly. If you distress the paper, brown should have shown through. I couldn't get it to work right and it just looked horrible. I'm pretty excited with how it turned out.

Yes, that's my helper in the background. I was taking pictures with the front door open and she couldn't resist the beautiful weather we are having today!

This months kit was about using stickers. So the lace paper is actually stickers, as are most of the embellishments on these layouts. I made this layout by copying two single page layouts. I really like that I wrote a letter to my first daughter. I normally don't do that much journaling but I'm glad that I did for this layout and plan to write more letters to both girls.

{My pictures of the pages aren't great but I was working on limited time between both girls' naps and keeping the cat indoors!}

This is my favorite layout this month. Mainly because I love the pictures! The papers are wonderful, too, but you can't see much of the detail in these pictures. The ribbon is part of what I won from a blog contest :)

I'm also proud of myself for finishing 3 pages in the baby's album. The first page is her birth announcement (going out today so I didn't want to spoil it for those getting it) and then I completed her first month's layout.

The second kit for the book club is a project for a school age child. I thought about not making it until I had a school aged kid but I'm glad I went ahead and put this together...

Because I really like the "pop-ups". This is something I can incorporate into other projects that I make. A little scoring and cutting a circle is all that you have to do to. Can't wait to use it on something else.
