Pine Cone Press Designs: C is for Cookie

About this time last year, I started scrapping single page layouts...before that, I preferred double page layouts. What I find interesting now is how often I do single page LOs but end up with two layouts that coordinate really well together! Here's an example:

I made this layout using one of Julie's old sketches at 52 Sketches...52 Weeks (#14 I think). I was trying to use the papers that came in one of my kits from Pine Cone Press Designs - the "C is for Cookie" kit. I'm not in love with the paper but it fit the theme of these pictures!THEN, still having the photos out and the kit... I made this page for this week's sketch at The Scrappiest.These aren't my favorite pages but I would have been lost with the paper I was using had it not been for the sketches. And I've got to say that I can't wait to get my new circle cutting tool so that I can quit cutting the large circles by hand! I found one that supposedly cuts up to 12" circles!

100th Post!

Maybe since this is the 100th post here at the Paisley Petals blog, I'll be lucky enough to win the prize this month at The Scrappiest :)
As promised, this is a picture of me, my daughter, my sister and her daughter. {I'm the one showing her behind in the photo!}

The title comes from my niece being injured TWICE at the park this afternoon. All papers are Basic Grey...

You can see the sketch #48 at The Scrappiest here. I have to be honest, it was a really hard sketch for me at first. I moved the pictures up and the title down, then things started moving. I think it was so hard because I'm used to being so symmetrical on my layouts...the off center circle threw me! If you have time, go check out the other entries...#6 is gorgeous!

Thanks for looking :)

Lil' Helper {Graphic 45: Domestic Goddess}

This page would have been Lil' Helpers if I hadn't run out of the letter "s"! But it would have been a tight squeeze so it all worked out...

This LO is based on the weekly sketch at Studio Calico...and was made for the Kids Challenge at Creative Cookbooking. The Graphic 45 papers are from one of my NYOBC kits... I don't consider myself a "Domestic Goddess", but the papers definitely worked for the little girls! I almost forgot to blog this but wanted to share with my sister since my niece is on this page ;) Next up, a layout of all four of us!

Another Fancy Pants Christmas Magic

I just realized as I went to title this blog post that I don't have a title on this layout! Oh, well. It doesn't need one ;) It's too windy to spend time trying to get a close up, but the transparency ornaments have some glitter on them - looks nice in real life! I used the kit again from the NYOBC kit a few months back. I'm disappointed with the kits because the idea books contain samples that have embellishments that ARE NOT IN MY KIT! So frustrating - it's not just one small thing here or there, it's lots of embellies. They did at least provide the link for how to make the flowers though....but somehow, my flower didn't come out as good as the one in the book :\

I'm torn because I enjoy going every month - it gets me out of the house for a few hours all by myself and I get to talk with other women who like to scrapbook. Plus, I get to see what everyone else creates with the kits. But with the price increase, it makes it not a good kit compared to the other one's I've been getting. I thought I might go and decide month to month based on the kit but now I'm not sure....I hate to say that I prefer the way they had it a few months ago :(

Be Merry! {Fancy Pants Christmas Magic: Merriest Tale, Chestnuts Roasting, Bough of Holly}

It's been forever since I've touched one of my kits from my monthly group that meets...they gave us way too many Christmas kits way too early. But I knew I was going to like the Fancy Pants kit with the brown and cranberry colors. Perfect for the girls Christmas portraits!

This first LO is of the holiday card I sent out this year, using one of Julie's sketches for Magpie Club: I actually created that layout after I did this next one. I saw that Ali Edwards posted what she does with her holiday cards and thought it was a fantastic idea - why didn't I think of that?! I don't get very many cards, so I used bigger sections of each card and for a couple, I used more than one piece. I especially love that we can keep pieces of our parent's handwriting.
I'm really pleased with how the pages turned out and I was able to do them both in just a couple of hours. And now I don't have to feel bad about throwing away cards every year!

First House - IMPROVED!

It was bothering me as I went to put the last LO away...it had no journaling on it and no year. I had just planned on journaling on the back of the layout. BUT I'm struggling with that idea because I also don't want people screwing up my layouts when they take them out of the protector and put it back in. (control freak alert!) So I did this - created a "door" to open and read the journaling. Had there not been a story, I wouldn't have cared so much but I really wanted to put in writing how hesitant she was at that first house. It's written all over her face in the photograph on the left but in 20 years I probably would have forgotten about it!

I promise my next post will be something new ;)

First House - Sketch 47 at The Scrappiest

I had so much FUN making this layout. I totally scrap-lifted this page from Aphra...for sketch 47 at The Scrappiest. The only thing I'm not 100% pleased with on this lo is the button - it's a little large for the door! But I loved the color/texture of it...I think the fun part was this house - so stinkin' cute! Can you see the freshly applied stickles? shhh ;)
I'm not going to even try to give a list of the papers I used - I think it's one from every collection I own!

With this layout I decided that I think Halloween is my favorite holiday to scrap. I never would have guessed that but I'm pretty sure it's the most scrapped holiday in my albums!

My Pretty Chicks {Prima: The Tropics "Mango Cherries", Sassafras Lass: Sweet Marmalade "Sugary Sweet"}

This LO is for a sketch at The Scrappiest - it's my first time using one of Liz's sketches! This month's prize is some of Studio Calico's Home Front collection and I would LOVE to have some ;)Everything except the journaling spot is from the Scrap For A Cure Cinnamon Girl Kit. The papers in this kit are not what I normally would buy but I'm trying to step outside my comfort zone a little bit =) Oh, and I also added some stickles to the centers of all of the flowers on the paper with the rows of flowers...but it's hard to see in the picture. Thanks for looking! Don't you love that "Toddlers & Tiara's" grin she has going on?! hehehe

Mischief {My Mind's Eye: Feeling Groovy}

So even though Julie has closed her 52 Sketches site, she is still posting some sketches on her blog. I used this sketch from her blog to create this LO: The picture was taken one morning after she'd been way too quiet for way too long. When I went to check on her, I found that she'd eaten quite a bit of my new People magazine! That was 2 months ago and I'm still trying to remember to keep things out of her reach :)

Happy Monday to you all - I'm so glad that life is going back to normal now after the holidays!

Snow Much Fun {Cosmo Cricket: Jolly By Golly}

It's Julie's last week to post a sketch to 52 Sketches...52 Weeks so I wanted to play along one last time! Click here for sketch #52. I used Cosmo Cricket papers and chipboard stickers from the NYOBC Jolly By Golly Kit a couple of months ago. And I added lots of icicle stickles to the chipboard stickers - I haven't used stickles on my last few layouts...and I'm wondering why not!?

The pictures are from our snow last winter....cause so far our house hasn't gotten any snow this winter. {I'm not bitter though ;p} I think this snow was the most I remember ever seeing in our area! All of you in the heavy snow areas can go ahead and laugh at me now LOL!
